Third World Hockey Forum opened


December 13, 2018 Moscow. III World Hockey Forum (WHF).

Mr. Rene Fazel, President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), Mr. Arkady Rotenberg, Chairman of the Managing Board of the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia (RIHF), Mr. Vladislav Tretiak, President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia, Mr. Stanislav Postnikov, President of the Russian Olympic Committee and Mr. Mikhail Degtiarev, chairman of the State Duma committee on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Young people’s Policies Matters.

Giving the start signal to the Forum, Mr. Arkady Rotenberg said Moscow meetings taking place during the EHT Channel One Cup are becoming welcome tradition. He extended his thanks to the delegates of the event and wished them a pleasant stay in Russia’s capital. Mr. Fazel in his welcome address stressed that the Forum was a wonderful opportunity for the world hockey family to gather in a pleasant ambiance and discuss the most urgent matters concerning the game’s growth worldwide.

Central Topic of the Forum plenary meeting was forming a new generation of sports managers. Participants discussed qualities a model efficient manager should possess in modern hockey. In trying to draw a virtual image of an ideal manager in that particular aspect, there seemed to a joint consensus that management was not just strategy and control but also creation of conditions for fortifying the rallying of the team with permanent attention to development of junior hockey talents.

Besides, another focus of the Forum experts this year was analysis of the experience gained in realization of young hockey players training programs, practical use of marketing instruments for further promotion of hockey and challenges hockey management has to face modern world of sports.


WHF will get together hockey, business and government representatives and also the experts of international hockey industry
