At WHF Miscow-2018 experts discuss methods of upbringing harmonious personality in hockey
World Hockey Forum Day Two saw panel discussion ”Sports and Education: Upbringing harmonious personality in hockey.” It shed some light over the urgent problems of educating young generation by means of sports, opportunities for combined standard academic education and preparing young athlete for professional career.
Psychiatry & pediatrics professor James Hudziakspoke of correct sequence of personal and team practices with due consideration of child’s brain growth. He also spoke about healthy cooperation between coach and athlete that would help strengthen the nervous system along with increasing players’ actions effectiveness on the ice.
Presentation by a Canadian University professor Daniel Mason concentrated on “attention economics” implying involvement of fans in sports events. Information for this kind of audience was found to be of lesser value than the attention they were prepared to focus on their favorite team’s action.
Professor Dongfeng Liu, of the Shanghai Sports University elaborated in his presentation on junior hockey players training, preparing for the Olympic Winter Games Beijing- 2022.
Yulia Rodygina Dr. of Medical sciences from St. Petersburg’s Dr. Pavlov University of Medicine spoke of the “problem triangle” child-parents-coach. In particular, she told about a recent research whereby children and parents anonymously expressed their opinion on what an ideal model coach should be. On the parallel, experts kept watchful eye over the discipline of kids on the team, their managing at school and their communication skills. Conclusions of that experiment would enable coaches to find proper approaches to their trainees making it also possible to prognosticate a player’s prospects.
Mme. Martha Zavadska of Poland, IIHF Council member, drew her colleagues’ attention to the importance of taking account of differences between boys’ and girls’ mentality. Proceeding from this supposition it would be necessary to develop specialized training programs for women to keep them in hockey as long as possible, the lady expert stressed.
